Barbados amongst top Caribbean and Atlantic islands

Barbados has been named among the many top five best islands within the Caribbean and Atlantic within the just-released 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Selection Awards, and chief executive officer of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) Dr Jens Thraenhart sees the rating as a recognition that the country has more to supply than sun, sea and sand.

The island was fifth out of the highest 20 islands by readers of the award-winning luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, with a rating of 87.92.

The category was led by St Barts, followed by Anguilla, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Bermuda.

“It’s a terrific honour to be recognised because the only southern Caribbean island in that prestigious list that prime up, and likewise rating above other Caribbean islands that you might expect further up, but I feel it speaks to the undeniable fact that Barbados has more to supply than simply beaches,” Dr Thraenhart told Barbados TODAY after the award list was released on Tuesday, because the island and its offerings were marketed on the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) fortieth Caribbean Travel Marketplace in Puerto Rico.

“We now have the Food and Rum Festival now, now we have Crop Over, but additionally … there may be culture, there may be heritage, you’ll be able to have a rainforest experiencae, you possibly can surf on the East Coast, you’ll be able to have diverse restaurants of every kind – from high-end to community and rum shops and all that.

“And I feel all of that together is something that travellers are on the lookout for today. They’re seeking to connect with communities. They need to have mindful and purposeful trips, and so they don’t just need to be on the beach. While the beach remains to be vital – and once we do take a look at sentiment evaluation Barbados ranks extremely high globally in terms of beaches – but I feel it may well’t be nearly beaches alone. And I feel that survey recognises the undeniable fact that Barbados has more to supply than simply beaches alone.”

The opposite 15 islands rounding up the highest 20 were St. Lucia, Jamaica, Nevis, Antigua, the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, St Kitts, The Bahamas, United States Virgin Islands, Aruba, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Bonaire, Dominican Republic, and Curaçao.

The thirty fifth annual Readers’ Selection Awards captured the travel experiences the magazine’s readers love best.

Sandy Lane claimed a spot among the many region’s best resorts on this yr’s awards, listed ninth in the highest 40 resorts within the Caribbean islands.
