Residents of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) who are suffering from kidney failure and are required to undergo dialysis for survival can now access this service on the Suddie Public Hospital.
A Dialysis Center was commissioned on Monday by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with 5G Dialysis within the hospital compound.
Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony said that the middle is a major boost for the delivery of healthcare within the region and welcomed the partnership with 5G Dialysis to be sure that the service is decentralised.
Patients who were onced required to travel to Georgetown for the treatment will save hundreds of dollars and time now that the middle was opened in Region Two.
The patients may even be provided a one-off grant of $600, 000 annually to help them financially. Dr Anthony said that individuals who reside in Region Two can be trained to work on the Dialysis Centre and more awareness can be conducted with diabetic patients.
Meanwhile, the Director of 5G Dialysis Asafo George told the gathering that he’s comfortable to partner with the Ministry of Health.
Regional Health Officer Dr Ranjeev echoed sentiments that the establishment will ease the financial burden of patients.
