Experienced Caymanian named head of Youth Services

(CMR)  The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage (MYSCH) has welcomed Mrs. Mellony Bryan-Waugh as the brand new Head of the Youth Services Unit (YSU).

Mrs. Bryan-Waugh has had an intensive profession as an educator and intervention services specialist. A teacher by career, Mrs. Bryan-Waugh has spent nearly three a long time working with young people within the classroom as a senior school leader, program facilitator, and adult training specialist.

She also possesses multiple qualifications in the sector of Education, including a Postgraduate Diploma of Education from the University of the West Indies and a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Warwick.

“Mrs. Bryan-Waugh comes with a wealth of qualifications and experience and displays a big passion for youth empowerment and development. The Ministry looks forward to the transformation, development and intergenerational approach that the YSU team will offer under Mrs. Bryan-Waugh’s leadership”, said Chief Officer Teresa Echenique.

Mrs. Bryan-Waugh thanked the Ministry for his or her warm welcome, saying, “I’m excited to tackle the challenge to develop, enhance and strengthen our youth services, and by extension, our community. I share the Ministry’s vision to empower Cayman’s young people and stay up for executing that vision alongside my colleagues at YSU.”

Mrs. Bryan-Waugh assumed her duties on 8 August 2022.
