Ikaya ain’t giving up

Ikaya

AS 2022 winds down, Ikaya reflects on a 12 months she says has been fruitful, considering the industry was in a state of flux this time last 12 months. Making hit songs is a priority going into 2023.

The buxom singjay is scheduled to perform at the favored Blue & Bougie party on November 13 in New Rochelle, New York. After sitting on the sidelines for 2 years due to COVID-19, Ikaya is looking forward to as many live dates as possible.

“Relating to Ikaya, you possibly can’t deny that I’m a performer. Every time I get on that stage I at all times create a heartfelt impact, leaving you to want more. I actually have been gracing all several types of events from corporate to family-oriented because I do have an awesome catalogue of songs to pick from,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

“Blue & Bougie is one other elegant event that has been added to the upscale events that I actually have performed over time. Definitely on the lookout for an awesome night of acoustic vibes to showcase the various side of Ikaya.”

Tek Him, Mi General, Nosey Neighbour and Cat inna di Back A di Yards are a few of her latest songs. Tek Him and Mi General are produced by Sponge Music, an organization which had massive hits in 2021 with Real Dawgs by Alkaline and Not Perfect by Mavado.

Ikaya (real name Kadian Blair) has been recording songs for 21 years. A past student of Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, her best-known singles include Fly Away and Ain’t Giving Up.

After over 20 years within the music business, she shies from the most recent fads.

“Buzz/trend is only a shockwave that does not last endlessly and you recognize what, such is every little thing in life. I’ve never seen myself as an artiste who does controversy to attract attention to my music,” said Ikaya. “I let my music speak for itself. I do music that years to come back, you possibly can still relate. It can still resonate to the guts. It doesn’t matter the genre; if it’s dancehall, reggae.”
