KFC celebrates 45 years of operations in Jamaica

(CMR)  Jamaicans imagine that the KFC franchise within the island produces one of the best chicken on the planet.

Locally, it is alleged that the Jamaican franchise created the bbq chicken recipe – though this may’t be verified- it’s certainly one of the numerous arguments used to support the speculation that KFCs in Jamaica are one of the best!

It could surprise you to know that  KFC has only been within the island for 45-years. The  Jamaican franchise on Thursday (June 18) celebrated 45 years of operations on the island.

“We’re celebrating 45 years of sharing delicious food, good vibes & legendary moments on this amazing country! Today, we cut cake where all of it began on Old Hope Road,” said KFC Jamaica on Twitter.

“BIG as much as our unbelievable teams & customers islandwide for making all of this possible! #BIG45 #HappyBirthdayKFC,” added the corporate in a tweet.

To commemorate the occasion, Mark Myers, Managing Director; Michelle Myers Mayne, Director, and Tina Myers Matalon, Marketing Director made a surprise visit to the location of the island’s first opened location on Old Hope road.

Based on KFC Jamaica’s website, the fried chicken franchise first opened shop within the island on June 18, 1975, when the Myers family opened the primary KFC restaurant at 170 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6.

Currently, there are KFC restaurants in 11 of Jamaican’s 14 parishes; yup, there is no such thing as a KFC in St Thomas, Hanover, and Trelawny.
