WITHIN a matter of days the newest song from singer Nigy Boy is scheduled for release. Titled Lover Not A Fighter, it is going to be his third studio effort since he began recording two years ago.

Lover Not A Fighter is produced by Guyanese Drew Da Producer who, like Nigy Boy, lives in New York City.

You And I, and Superwoman are the 21-year-old artiste’s previous songs. He has also done spot dates within the Big Apple and Connecticut with deejay Dexta Daps.

The recording process, Nigy Boy tells the Jamaica Observer, is a captivating one.

“It has been a journey to this point, a beautiful experience. I get a possibility to specific myself through music and [to] mess around with different ideas,” he said.

Up until 2020 Nigy Boy’s music output was limited to cover versions of songs which he posted on Instagram. A few of those impromptu jams got the thumbs up from Shenseea, nevertheless it was encouragement from his best friend that progressively pushed the Stony Brook University student into doing official recordings.

The ballad You And I announced his vocal profession. It was followed by Superwoman, dedicated to his mother Claudette Hill who raised him as a single parent in Montego Bay where he was born blind.

Nigy Boy biggest musical influences are Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross, whose differing styles guided his foray into recording.

In August he opened two shows for Dexta Daps, one in all the artistes whose songs he covered for Instagram. Performing in front of an audience was also a thrill.

“That definitely gave me more exposure and introduced me to his fans. It gave me much more experience and confidence,” said Nigy Boy.
